I read a review of Norton recently which I agreed with. If you are not sure whether to buy, this might sway you. Look at the link below:

All I can say is that I have Norton 360 running on two machines in my house without any troubles. Problems occur because everyone has a unique mix of OS and apps, not to mention hardware and firmware differences. People uninstall other stuff and ignore the warning that points out that the DLL might be shared by other programs. I first installed mine some 6-9 months after the initial release, so I would have a later version.

 My Norton 360 is not able to perform temporary files clean up. Instead of doing this scan I get the message:" Microsoft Visual c++Runtime Library Runtime error! Program c: \programfiles\commonfiles\Symantecshared\ccSvcHst.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Then the screen freezes.
 I have contacted Norton 3 times. I even let the 2nd tech hack into my computer. He could not fix it. Suggested fixes: my version-corrupted, so remove Norton 360 and down load another 360, download updates of Java and and all updates windows. Did not help, but it did pacify me for a few hours. I think I am too old for a pacifyer I did speak with a tech supervisor. States he has a patch that may fix the problem and would email it. Still waiting. I did an internet search for this same problem. I am not alone. YES! I found same complaints dating back over six months. Now Norton 360 is free through rebates from Fry's Electronics. Now Norton is advertising new and better version of 360-Beta 2. Are all these facts a red flags that the first version of Norton 360 was a bust and cannot be fixed? One can search the internet and find glowing reports from February 2007 to August 2007. These reports are written by writers who are paid for their reports. If you read reports/complaints by consumers they are not so glowing from April 2007 to current. Look at consumers opinions on CNET 3/10. Editors opinion excellent 8/10 Where is the truth??? The truth is in the trenches with the consumers. The kiss of death maybe in the truth if you write articles for a living. I have yet to find a published article about problems with Norton 360. God bless the internet for information good or bad. Fact, truth, BS or whatever! Thanks for reading
