River Cruise Ends in Budapest

4 July – Last Day

Budapest is Eastern Europe’s liveliest and most cosmopolitan city. We did a guided tour of the city sights, including the Royal Palace of Buda, the hilltop castle complex with Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias Church, and the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest.

14:00 – A small group of us took a tour of the ship’s engine rooms at the front and aft.

15:30 – The chef gave a small group a kitchen tour. It has only eight staff.

19:00 – 21:30 – We enjoyed a traditional Hungarian farewell dinner, followed by Roma folk dancing and music.

22:00 – Finally, the ship took us for a night-time cruise along the Danube, passing under the city’s numerous bridges, while enjoying a cocktail and listening to a running commentary and  music. A truly wonderful way to end the Europe river cruise.
